Fragrant, fruit-driven aromas of black cherry, purple plum and currant introduce this plush, polished Cabernet, with similar flavors joined by notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, cola and licorice. The wine is lithe and velvety on the palate, with fine, well-integrated tannins. A bright streak of acidity keeps the mouth feel fresh and balanced, with a flourish of orange peel and toast on the finish.

Jerry and Flora Komes bought the first vineyard over 20 years ago as a retirement project that quickly became a lifetime passion for their son John Komes and daughter Julie Garvey and their families. In 1980, Ken Deis was hired as winemaker and has been part of the family ever since. Deis makes use of every tool at his disposal. Trusting his senses, the way the berries feel, the taste of the fruit and the smell of the wine during the fermentation process. Deis has also worked closely with vineyard manager Pat Garvey for more than 20 years and they can now anticipate the challenges that each vintage brings. Deis also adopted the same curiosities the the entire Komes-Garvey family has and it has paid off royally in the quality of his wines.
With estate vineyards located throughout Napa Valley and in some of its most famous sub-appellations – St. Helena, Rutherford, Oakville, and Carneros – Flora Springs has incredible resources when it comes to crafting the wines in their portfolio. Highly selective in the wines they see to bottle, always adhering to the guiding principle of putting quality above quantity.
Several wines, such as Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons from Rutherford, St. Helena and Oakville, are derived purely from nature, bottlings meant to express a singular site in a single vintage. Others, such as flagship red blend, Trilogy, and Flora’s Legacy wines, are what they call architectural wines, assembled from different components with the goal of creating the finest wines of the vintage. Still others, such as the Napa Valley and Family Estate wines, offer accessibility and outstanding value.
